| Rescue Equipment Course
2011
We had the opportunity to experience things that we would not normally
experience during CCA sessions in school during the Rescue Equipment
Course conducted by HQ NCDCC through SCDF. During the course, we
learnt about the different types of equipments that the Disaster
Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) from the SCDF use in their many
missions and operations.
We tried our hands on some of the equipments such as the hydraulic
spreader and the Tirfor wrench. It was tough handling the equipments
and some were really dangerous for inexperienced participants like
us. However, the trainers assisted us and ensured that safety always
comes first.
Apart from the equipments, we also learnt about what DART does.
What the officers in DART do in their operations and training is
very admirable and commendable, as not everyone will dare to do
the same. We truly respect them for this.
On the whole, we really enjoyed the unique experience. It was tiring
but worthwhile. We would recommend this course to anyone who wants
to know what DART is all about as well as how to use some of the
equipments for rescue operations. If given the chance, we would
not mind going through the whole course again.
