| NCDCC Kayaking Expedition
2009
On 7th February 2009,
Galvin, William and I took part in the 7th NCDCC Kayaking Expedition.
We were honoured to be chosen to represent our school unit, Anglo-Chinese
School (Independent) National Civil Defence Cadet Corps to participate
in this expedition.
We met up with the various NCDCC units at the break of dawn near
Tanah Merah MRT, and travelled to the MOE Changi Coast Adventure
Camp, where they had the opportunity to enjoy a day out in Changi’s
shimmering turquoise waters. Because I had completed the 1 star
kayaking, I was able to help William and Galvin on the finer points
of kayaking.
Additionally, I could help the instructors to look out for the
other cadets.
After the safety briefing by the instructors, all the cadets paddled
their kayaks to Bedok Jetty, where they all had a hearty meal and
played a number of challenging and exciting team-building activities.
In the heat of the afternoon the cadets paddled back to the camp,
undeterred by the heat. After washing up and packing, everyone was
dismissed and the cadets departed in high spirits.
It was a great way end the day and I thank my OC for the opportunity
to undertake this expedition and NCDCC instructors who we there
to guide us. I look forward to more such opportunities to interact
with fellow cadets from other schools.
