1. What does NCDCC, HTCC & MHA stand
for?
NCDCC stands for National Civil Defence Cadet Corps. HTCC
stands for Home Team Cadet Corps. And MHA stands for Ministry
Of Home Affairs.
2. Why are we located at Home Team Academy
(HTA)?
NPCC and NCDCC are under the purview of the Home Team Cadet
Corps (HTCC). Since NPCC HQ is located at the HTA, it was
decided to also locate NCDCC HQ at the same venue for better
synergy, co-ordination and team-work amongst the Branch
Heads of both uniformed groups, in the sharing of expertise,
resources and facilities.
3. What's so unique about NCDCC?
The September 11 terrorist attacks, the bomb blasts in
Bali, the Nicoll Highway collapse and the most recent Tsunami
disaster have created a heightened awareness of a need for
Civil Defence skills and knowledge.
The purpose of the NCDCC is to nurture and develop young
students into caring and responsible citizens through their
participation in interesting and challenging Civil Defence
activities.
Interesting activities within NCDCC are:
›› Learning to use state-of-the-art equipment
such as water-mist gun and the impulse gun.
›› Learning to use latest rescue equipment like
the hydraulic spread cutter used by The Singapore Civil
Defence Force (SCDF).
›› Learning useful and practical skills like
Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to enable you to save
lives in emergencies.
›› Viewing and riding in the Red Rhino, Fire
Bike, Compound Platform Ladder (CPL), Command Vehicle etc.
›› Gaining confidence in fire fighting by training
in our fire simulator building nicknamed the "FURNACE"
at the Civil Defence Academy (CDA).
