1. What do the initials "HO" stand for?

HO is the acronym for the term "Honorary Officer".

2. What are the criteria required of me to become an HO?

› Completed National Service (For male Singapore Citizens) and
› Attained 'A' Levels / Diploma and
› Currently undergoing undergraduate studies in any discipline or,
› Post Graduate studies in any discipline and
› Uniformed Group (UG) background experience is a pre-requisite.

3. What are the main courses available to me when I become an HO?

› Officer Basic Course (OBC).
› Fire-Fighting Course.

4. What would my job scope be like as an HO?

After having attended the 3-week Officer Basic Course, you will be attached to HQ NCDCC from which you will be deployed to a NCDCC Unit (School)* nearest to your residence, whenever possible. You will be assisting the Officer Commanding (OC) and the teacher officer(s) of the unit, in the planning and organizing of any NCDCC training and activities.

*Subject to the availability of vacancy.

5. What would my route of advancement be like as an HO?

You will be given the rank of Probationary Lieutenant upon successful completion of the Officer Basic Course.The probation period will be 1 year. Based on your commitment and performance, you will be considered for promotion to the next higher rank.
